Emily first discovered Pilates during college and was drawn to the history of the Pilates movement method and its relevance for body conditioning today. She knew movement was essential to the wellbeing of her spirit and she found the Pilates method nurtured her body, mind and soul. Practicing Pilates on any apparatus fostered her strengths and encouraged her weaknesses while enriching the connection to her own self.
Pilates influenced the manner Emily interacted with the world and sharing everything she learned kept her passion alive. She received her original Pilates certification in 2007 is under Diane Diefenderfer, PMA master instructor and Ron Fletcher protege. She continued her education with Pilates elder, Lolita San Miguel, completing the Pilates Master Mentor Program in 2015. She then became a Second Generation Pilates Master and instructor of Lolita’s Legacy in 2016. She has trained with Peak Pilates and completed Level One Master Instructor in 2018. Additionally, Emily has a BFA in Dance from University of California Irvine.
Emily’s teaching style is classic and specific, but she does not take herself too seriously. In her class you’ll learn her favorite moves like short spine stretch, hundred, saw, snake and twist. And you’ll find her dancing during class when a Whitney Houston song comes on!
Outside of the studio Emily teaches dance, ballet and tap, to children. She loves being an auntie to 6 beautiful nieces and nephews, including a brand-new set of twins. But work and family aside, she loves her coffee and truly enjoys the journey!
