Sherry has exercised throughout her adult life but in a fluke accident hurt her back and herniated a disc. She refused surgery and, by the grace of God, was given a free private session with a Pilates instructor. After one hour on the reformer, Sherry spent the first evening out of pain in over a year and has not looked back. Pilates has truly been a gift to Sherry as it has helped strengthen her core, which in turn keeps her back out of pain.
Sherry has a BSN from Washington State University and she spent 20 years working in an oncology clinic in Spokane, WA. Her transition to teach Pilates is wonderful because she believes movement is the best preventive medicine out there!!
During class she focuses on the fundamentals with emphasis on precision, and her favorite exercise is swimming frog, emphasizing the parts where you must use control to prevent the carriage from moving.
A fun fact is that her husband is a football coach and has taken her on many adventures, including in 2012 when he was coaching with the SF 49ers and they got to go to the Super Bowl. Sherry has 3 children, she loves walking on the beach, playing with her dogs, and spending time with her family.
Her favorite quote is “Enjoy the Journey”, –in oncology you quickly learn tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us, so enjoy today!
