Sonya has worked as an E-RYT Yoga instructor for nearly a decade. And while she was introduced to Pilates in the beginning of this career, she didn’t start seriously practicing until after the birth of her baby. She swears Pilates HEALED her body by helping rebuild her strength and confidence.
As she delved deeper into Pilates she fell in love with the smart and effective series of exercises that can be modified and progressed in many ways with various props. She also loves the principals of Pilates- Breath, Concentration, Centering, Control, Precision, and Flow. Building on this passion for Pilates she attended instructor training at Orange County College and completed her certification in 2019.
While Sonya teaches in a classical way, she adds modifications and progressions for each exercise… and she LOVES to incorporate props. She is keenly aware there are infinite Pilates exercises when you utilize all Club Pilates equipment and so no two of her classes will every be the same… though you will always find a spinal extension exercise in the mix! Her Pilates motto: “Smile while you sweat!”
Sonya moved to Paso Robles in December 2019 and spends her spare working on her small farm; which is a perfect place for her work towards becoming an herbalist. But don’t let all this natural living fool you. Sonya is a huge foodie and can’t pass up a good bowl of ice cream!
