Meet Your Master Trainer!

Shannon Willits
As an active adult I’d tried every fitness modality known to human. I was strong and flexible, but I had little aches and pains that wouldn’t go away. After my first Pilates class I knew this workout was different. I felt a profound sense of well-being and all my little aches vanished. After that class I never looked back. I’ve been doing and teaching Pilates since the late 90’s and traded my pantyhose and high heels for leggings and grip socks. I’m so pleased to be a part of Club Pilates and to have the privilege of bringing “Pilates for Everybody” to our community. I earned my advanced level Pilates certification with STOTT PILATES, completed a fellowship in Applied Functional Science (FAFS) and am a certified Functional Golf Specialist. I am a master trainer for Club Pilates, Barre Above and Relief Through Rolling, a system of self-myofascial release. I'm certified in many other movement modalities including TRX, The MELT Method, BOSU, Gyrotonic and more.

Meet Your Master Trainer!

Shannon Willits

I am originally from North Carolina but consider myself a Floridian. My family is from Miami, Florida and I attended high school and college in Tampa, Florida.
After moving to Sarasota, Florida in the early 90s, I became interested in health and fitness and decided to study for my advanced degree in nutrition. After reading about the Wellness revolution, I quickly realized that I no longer wanted to be in a clinical setting and much preferred fitness and wellness.
I have been studying and teaching Pilates since 1999. I achieved my advanced-level Pilates certification with STOTT Pilates. In 2002 I became the Fitness Director for Serendipity Racquet Club where I implemented a Pilates program. The program started with a private training room with one Reformer, Chair, Cadillac and the Pilates Barrels. The private training program was so successful that I was asked to implement a group Reformer program with four Reformers.
From 2002-2007 I managed the fitness facility at Serendipity and taught group and private Pilates to thousands of golf and racquet athletes ranging from youth to seniors to professionals. I completed my STOTT Pilates certification and hosted and attended many Pilates workshops during this time.
In 2007 I opened my first public studio with six fully equipped stations and a group exercise room for mat classes, BOSU and TRX classes. I hosted many Pilates certification courses and workshops from 2007-2012.
I was featured in Pilates Style magazine because I was awarded a small business loan through the SBA and its Executive Mentor program which assists applicants in writing business plans for new business ventures.
In 2010 I completed a fellowship program at the Gray Institute in Applied Functional Science (AFS). I knew that Pilates was profoundly effective and I wanted to learn more about the science of human movement. Upon completion of the fellowship program, I developed 3D Pilates in Motion in which I fused the Contemporary Pilates concepts with AFS for a more vertical Pilates experience.
Utilizing the 3D Pilates in Motion method, I have been privileged to work with athletes at every level, from aspiring to professional. I enjoy the mystery and challenge that each person presents.
In 2017 I was presented with the opportunity to invest in Club Pilates in Ft Myers and opened my first Club Pilates studio. The Ft Myers region is now four studios strong with two more planned bringing the region to six studios.
I joined the Master Training team with Club Pilates in 2019 and have been honored to lead many teacher training programs. I have enjoyed mentoring new instructors through the teacher training process to certification.
I still enjoy healthy eating and an active lifestyle. I’ve been a ballroom dancer for the last 20 years on and off and started playing Pickleball in 2022. I am writing a Pilates for Pickleball curriculum using my 3D Pilates in Motion method. I am currently a student of the Gyrotonic system.
