Meet Your Master Trainer!

Shalene MacKinnon

Shalene has spent many years supporting Pilates education and instructor development within Club Pilates, both as a Master Trainer and in her role as a Corporate Master Trainer. Her work involves guiding trainees through the foundations of movement, helping them understand how to teach with clarity, and supporting them as they build the skills needed for a sustainable teaching career.

What matters most to Shalene is creating an inclusive, encouraging learning environment. She believes that strong instructors are not defined by one specific teaching style, but by their ability to connect with clients, understand movement principles, and communicate with confidence. Her goal is to help each student discover the approach that feels authentic to them—whether that’s calm and grounding, energetic and uplifting, or a blend of both.

Throughout the teacher training process, Shalene emphasizes practical learning, thoughtful cueing, and a deeper understanding of why exercises work—not just how to perform them. Her mentorship supports students in developing their own problem-solving skills, their ability to adapt to different clients, and their confidence in creating well-structured classes.

As the owner of Club Pilates St. Albert, she continues to work closely with instructors at all stages of their careers. Shalene enjoys seeing students grow from their first training weekend to becoming capable, independent teachers who bring something unique to their classes and their members.
