Brenda B.
Instructor
I was born and raised in Hanford, CA. I grew up loving and competing in sports track, water skiing and basketball. I live in the foothills of Sanger, with my husband and 3 beautiful children. Several years ago, I tore my meniscus snow skiing, I had surgery that left me unable to enjoy outdoor sports and doing things with my kids. Upon committing to the surgery, I was told that I may not gain back full mobility of my knee. Having my doubts, I headed into surgery feeling discouraged, I knew I had a long, inconclusive recovery ahead. Unfortunately, just as the surgeon predicted the many hours of physical therapy did not prove to produce the results we were hoping for. I was informed there was nothing else he could do for me beyond physical therapy. At this point I had come to terms with accepting that I would never be able to ski with my children or partake in the outdoor activities I once enjoyed. It wasn’t until a couple years after my new lifestyle had become my new norm that through a friend, I discovered Pilates, and it changed my life. In the commitment of attending several classes a week I soon had full mobility in my once injured knee. At this point in time, I had been participating in Pilates for 12 years. After being a member at club Pilates I was approached by a Pilates instructor who encouraged me to look into becoming a trained instructor. Feeling inspired by my own testimony I decided to follow through with certification. Since becoming an instructor, I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching the classes and watching the members grow in their physical abilities. I have had the privilege of seeing the flexibility and strength of those who are rehabilitating from injuries improve immensely. It has been a joy to play a role in the success stories of each and every one of them.
