Instructor
Hi, my name is Marcy Allen! I’ve been at Club Pilates as a teacher since December 2024. This is a great place to teach, to work, and do Pilates! I live in Zumbrota (great town) , and have a dog, a cat, and parakeets! I hope to adopt another dog in the near future! I love to hike, bike, and travel. And I used to be a licensed therapist. (TMI?) I’ve been in the fitness industry since 1991. Health and fitness are my passion. I was a certified fitness instructor for many years, starting at the Rochester Family Y. I taught everything from strength and step classes to water aerobics to cycle to Yoga. The Y is where I also started my Pilates journey. I started doing Pilates on my own at home (using the book “Pilates for Idiots”) , because I have scoliosis and I wanted to start to work on preventing the body changes that can come from having scoliosis. By the way, it’s actually a pretty good book! Then we added Pilates Mat classes at the the Y. I received my Mat and Reformer certification through Stott Pilates. After 18 years of teaching at the Y, I transitioned over to the Mayo Clinic health center, which was eventually renamed the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. I was there for over 10 years, and taught Pilates Mat classes, Reformer classes, private reformer lessons, MVE Pilates Chair classes, water aerobics, Yoga, Active Older Adult classes, and Cycle (not my fav). I also taught many workshops called Healthy Back focusing on the fundamentals of strengthening core and back. I absolutely love teaching the fundamentals of Pilates and active older adults who want to keep themselves strong as they grow older - as I do! I am currently just finishing up my required training through Club Pilates! Thank heavens!!!! I sincerely believe Pilates is the best long term thing you can do for your body. Hope to see you in class soon!!
