I grew up all over the world as a military brat and was a major bookworm. Exercise was not my thing as a child. After finishing graduate school and entering the workforce, I realized my sedentary lifestyle was not going to be good for my overall long-term health. A friend recommended yoga but "clearing my mind" only made me think of all the things on my "to-do" list. I then tried a Pilates mat class and fell in love. The idea of working my body in such an efficient manner appealed to me. Why do one hundred sit ups when the Hundred and the Ab Series can be just as effective? A few years of mat classes led to my first Reformer class and let's be real, who doesn't love feet in straps?? Pilates has allowed me to not only lose weight, get stronger, and grow taller but it has increased my body awareness, balance and mobility---all fantastic things for long-term health. I have been practicing Pilates for 20 years now and was a founding member of Club Pilates South Frederick. After years of "encouragement" by Studio owner Jan, I enrolled in the Club Pilates Teacher Training Program. My goal is to become a comprehensive instructor and share my love of Pilates with clients. When I am not on the Reformer, I pole dance and weight lift..activites made much easier from Pilates. I am still a bookworm and go through a book or two a week. My husband and I love to travel and explore new places, when we are not playing with our two cats, who found us through our neighborhood cat distribution system. We hope to be posted overseas for his work in the near future---where I plan to teach Pilates!
