Instructor
Amanda is an instructor at Club Pilates West Huntsville and an exercise physiologist who studies how the body responds to exercise. Following her own spine injury and rehab, she used her background and resources to find research that looked at strengthening and improving spinal mobility. The research showed that across all ages, genders, disabilities, etc. the most consistent positive outcomes included Pilates. Pilates is accessible and safe for almost everyone. With the ok from her surgeon, she had her first reformer Pilates class. Having been a gymnast, the movements in Pilates felt familiar but incredibly challenging! After seeing her own back pain reduce dramatically and increased flexibility, she decided to pursue her Pilates teaching credentials, but not just anywhere. Club Pilates was very different from other studios. Making Pilates accessible to all ability levels and a focus on inclusivity was what drew Amanda to Club Pilates. “I liked that people with all kinds of health issues can safely exercise and move their bodies. Being an instructor at Club Pilates is about movement but also the connections. A smile and a reformer work wonders!” Since then, Amanda has incorporated Pilates into most exercise programming she writes professionally. She is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and enjoys running, hiking, and Pilates education workshops!
