Johanna Baer

As a child, Johanna was based in the San Francisco Bay area. She attended The ACT Young Conservatory program performing in commercials, voice overs and was featured in an ABC movie of the week. She became a member of San Francisco’s Ballet Celeste at age 8 performing in Asia and the United States. Moving to New York in her early teens, Johanna became a professional ballet dancer and joined American Ballet Theatre receiving a scholarship at 14. Twyla Tharp, a Tony award winning choreographer, selected Johanna as one of the dancers to perform in the screen version of the movie Hair. She returned to San Francisco and joined San Francisco Ballet. She was forced to retire from dance due to knee injury and dove into Fashion Design and Merchandising receiving an AA degree, Valedictorian/ Summa Cum Laude. Working in retail/wholesale Senior management for many years Johanna wanted to return to her passion of movement. She was granted a scholarship with Body Kinetics Mill Valley, Ca, undergoing a 650-hour certification program remaining there for 21 years as a Master Instructor. She has studied with highly trained Master teachers such as Rael Isacowitz, Carola Trier and Kathy Grant to name a few.
