Meet Your Master Trainer!

Mary Jacobson

Mary Jacobson has been enjoying and teaching the power of Pilates for over 25 years. After enjoying relief from chronic back pain following Pilates training, she decided to become a certified instructor. Before entering the fitness profession, Mary earned a master’s degree as a speech-language pathologist specializing in adult neurogenic disorders and head and neck cancers. She worked on inter- and transdisciplinary rehab teams coordinating with physicians, physical/occupational therapists, and other medical professionals. Her experience in both the fitness profession and the area of adult neurogenic and oncological rehab allows her to truly merge increased stability and mobility with improved performance in daily life as well as overall fitness and athletic goals. Both her academic training and professional experience have given her unique insight into effective communication strategies to enhance learning. Her clientele has ranged in age from 12 to 92 and from the beginning exerciser to elite athletes. “Pilates has been the springboard for me to improve not only my strength and flexibility, but it has also been the gateway to improved performance in both everyday life activities as well as my athletic pursuits. I want to share that gift with others. Life is so much better when we feel good!"
