Cynthia Khoury Badrak began her Pilates Journey in 1995. She became certified through and mentored by Romana Kryzanowska, who worked directly with Joseph Pilates, from the time she was a teenager. Cynthia remained under Romanaâs instruction until 2001. During those years, in addition to teaching her own clients, she also helped to mentor the apprentices who had been part of Romanaâs program. She helped to prepare these students for their teaching and testing in Romanaâs certification program.
Prior to her Pilates life, Cynthia had a very successful dance career in NYC where she was part of numerous national tours and regional productions. She earned her Bachelor in Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Texas and her Masters of Fine Arts in Directing from Baylor University. Her training also includes training in Bartenieff Fundamentals, which helps to re-pattern the neurological connections that create movement and Laban Full Effort Work. Laban is a method and language used to describe, visualize, interpret and document human movement. This training has aided her in years of teaching Pilates for injury prevention and recovery.
Her additional interests include being a Rock Steady Boxing coach; her Central Florida affiliation trains those suffering from Parkinsonâs Disease.
It is her honor and privilege to pass on the wisdom of Joseph Pilatesâ Contrology to the next generation of instructors.
