Kerri began her Pilates journey over 20 years ago, receiving her Balanced Body Certification from Leslie Clayton at The Body Awareness Studio in Atlanta, GA. Shortly afterward, her family relocated to Asheville, NC. She got her first real-life experience teaching large group mat classes at a local resort. She then moved on to equipment training at a local boutique studio and added Classical Training to her repertoire. Since then, she has accumulated countless continuing education hours and earned her National Certification through the CPCP. It takes time to develop an eye and to streamline your cueing, and she believes these foundational years helped her get ready for teaching large reformer classes and ultimately, ‘teaching the teacher’.
Kerri was part of the original teaching teams that opened both Club Pilates Biltmore Park and Club Pilates Charlotte Street, both in Asheville, NC, where she now serves as Master Trainer, mentoring new instructors and teaching regular group and private classes.
As a self-described purist, Kerri specializes in the fundamentals and principles of Pilates, believing that true transformation happens when students fully engage with Joseph Pilates’ six original principles. Her teaching philosophy focuses on explaining the “why” behind each movement, empowering clients to move with intention, intelligence, and awareness.
Kerri’s highlight of being a Pilates teacher/Master Trainer is mentoring her students into knowledgeable and confident teachers, but also holding true to the original principles of Pilates. Her motto is “I’m always learning - because if you're not learning, you’ve stopped growing.
