Michelle Larson and Krista McCurdy

Club Pilates Master Instructor · Portland Spring
2027
Meet Michelle Larson

Michelle has been certified as a fully comprehensive Pilates instructor since 2015 and has been working in the industry since 2014. She specializes in training Irish dancers to compete as elite athletes dealing with injuries, nutrition, and corrective exercise and has been doing so since 1990. Pilates is an integral part of her training program providing dancers with strength, length, extension, and powerhouse connection to decrease risk of injury. She specializes in pregnancy (pre and postnatal), athletes, teens, children, and various spinal conditions including scoliosis. Michelle has run workshops for Pilates and fitness instructors including, cueing, programming, and special populations.
Michelle currently teaches in multiple Club Pilates studios and has trained thousands of clients, some in group class and others privately. It has been a goal to share her knowledge with the next generation and make each Teacher Trainee (TTP) a better instructor than she is.
Specialty Areas and Certifications: Scolio-Pilates 2018, Health Coach with Optavia 1/2018, Silver Sneakers Foundations 4/2018, Barre Above 12/2018, Trigger Point 12/2018, Pre/Post Natal (Amy Cady) 4/2016, TRX Suspension Training Course 3/2016, Personal Trainer 8/2014, Irish Dance Certification 10/1990.
Quote from Michelle, “I really enjoy teaching Pilates, and during the past 9 years I have learned so much. In my heart, I want every client to learn to understand the value of Pilates as a preventative and restorative practice. I strive to help each of them grow to love Pilates. I personally cannot touch the lives of each client that enters a Pilates studio, but I can teach instructors the art of Pilates, share my passion with them and through them more clients can be reached.” Meet Krista McCurdy

Originally from the Bay Area, California, Krista received her comprehensive Pilates certificationin 2014. She discovered Pilates when she began taking private sessions to help her incredibly poor posture and to rehabilitate a broken shoulder, and fell in love. When the opportunity to become an instructor came up, she jumped at it, and discovered she had a passion for and dedication to giving clients a positive movement experience, an exceptional eye, and a deep love for rehabilitative Pilates. Eight years ago she experienced some severe health issues that caused her body to completely fall apart, revealing her Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and leaving her dangerously hypermobile, unstable, with zero strength, and with neurological symptoms that resembled those of MS and Parkinson’s. It was through Pilates, working with dedicated, talented instructors that she slowly put her body back together. This process of having to completely relearn biomechanics and what proper alignment and correct muscle firing feels like gave her a truly invaluable insight into the human body that continues to inform her teaching. She has worked with all different types and ages of clients, from the elderly to high school athletes. Her goal is to provide instructors in training with the knowledge, support, and mentorship necessary to empower them to provide their clients with the best Pilates experience possible. In her free time, she is an artist who works with collage and alternative photographic processes.
