Alicia was born and raised in New Orleans. She’s been active in fitness for over 15 years, which includes practicing and teaching all fitness modalities.
Alicia fell in love with Pilates in 2002 after a friend suggested she give it a try for flexibility. She started off with Mat and thereafter Reformer. She noticed how quickly Pilates gave her this overall well-being feeling of strength, not only in the core but in places she had never felt before. It helped her to find true body awareness through movement and breath, and how to apply this to her everyday life. It also gave her flexibility and improved her kyphosis forward head posture in ways she hadn’t experienced before. This was a new feeling and look; she was locked in and focused on this new beginning of overall health. This left her wanting more and excited to see what else was to come. Later, she realized that this was something that others needed to experience and decided to become a Pilates Instructor.
Alicia is currently the Lead Instructor for Club Pilates Old Metairie Studio and a Club Pilates Master Trainer. She was also formerly a Peak Pilates Basic Mat Master Trainer. Alicia is comprehensively certified with over 600 hrs. by Power Pilates(classical), Balance Body(contemporary), and is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher. Other certifications include Barre Above with Pilates Focus, TRX, Trigger Point, Pilates for Neurological Conditions, AFFA Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, Schwinn and Maddog Spinning, Les Mills Body Pump, and other fitness modalities. In 2020, Alicia completed a nine-month Pilates mentorship program with Colleen Glenn-Wilson of Peak Pilates in 3D FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT and with Shari Berkowitz at The Vertical Workshop. Alicia was a Presenter for DCAC FITCON and MUSIC CITY FITCON in 2003 and 2004 and was on a panel discussion about Pilates. There, she presented 2 workshops and classes, sharing and teaching her expertise in Pilates with numerous conference attendees. In addition, she has attended live and virtual Continuing Education Workshops, with all certifications being up to date and of good standards.
Alicia believes Pilates is for Everybody! She encourages all to come and experience the benefits of mindful, safe movements with emphasis on breathing through Pilates. She loves being a part of her clients’ journeys, especially seeing them get stronger, recovering from an injury, or just looking for flexibility and/or an overall feeling of resetting of the body and mind. Alicia teaches all levels and specializes in Rehabilitation, Pre and Post Pregnancy, all other Special Populations, and training Athletes. She uses her fun, positive, and energetic personality when teaching to give her clients a great class experience and an enjoyable time for 50 minutes, where the focus is on them.
Alicia has led numerous Club Pilates Teacher Trainings and has been mentoring and preparing students for the completion of a Pilates certification since 2022. She has a high success rate of certifying her students. When leading Teacher Training, she follows the guidelines and parameters of not only teaching the Club Pilates Way but how to apply and teach as a Pilates Instructor. She trains her students that teaching Pilates is more than just knowing the exercises and memorizing them but how to develop your eyes to see and teach the bodies in front of them, how to progress and regress exercises, and how to make modifications as needed, especially for special populations. She teaches how to safely cue and teach multiple-level participants in classes with success.
In her spare time, Alicia loves spending time at home reading and taking walks/and runs through City Park.
