Shalene has spent many years supporting Pilates education and instructor development within Club Pilates as both a Master Trainer and Corporate Master Trainer, dedicated to mentoring and developing the next generation of instructors. Her work focuses on guiding trainees through the foundations of Pilates, developing confident and effective teaching skills, and helping instructors build sustainable, fulfilling careers in the Pilates industry.
As the owner of Club Pilates St. Albert and South Common, Shalene continues to mentor instructors at every stage of their journey. One of the most rewarding parts of her work is watching students grow from their very first training weekend into capable, independent teachers who bring their own unique energy and strengths into the studio and to their members.
Shalene is known for creating an inclusive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment where trainees feel empowered to learn, ask questions, and grow with confidence. She believes exceptional instructors are not defined by one teaching style, but by their ability to connect with clients, understand movement deeply, communicate clearly, and teach with authenticity. Her goal is to help every student discover and refine a teaching approach that feels natural to them—whether calm and grounding, energetic and uplifting, or somewhere in between.
Throughout the teacher training process, Shalene emphasizes practical application, thoughtful cueing, movement understanding, and the “why” behind each exercise—not simply memorization. Her mentorship encourages students to develop problem-solving skills, adaptability for working with a wide range of clients, and the confidence to lead safe, effective, and well-structured classes.
